About the Minot Multi-Farm CSA

Connecting You with Local Farmers

CSA stands for “Community-Supported Agriculture.” It’s a partnership between a farm and its community. The farm offers shares, or boxes, of their products like meat, eggs, produce & more. The member supports the farm by purchasing the items before they’re grown or produced, typically in the fall or early spring. The farm then uses that money to purchase seeds and growing supplies.

Throughout the growing season, the farmer delivers their best harvest! It’s a wonderful way to really BACK your farmer and support the local foods movement, as you’re signing a pre-harvest contract to be by their side no matter what the season brings (tornado, hail, insect plague, drought, etc.), which is why you might see variability each week.

Our Minot Multi-Farm CSA model is a cut above the rest. Not only do we provide the traditional vegetable box, but we also offer special add-ons from our collaboration with various incredible producers. This means you can enjoy a diverse, high-quality local foods box that might include vegetables, meats, dairy, baked goods, and more all sourced from our trusted local partners.

Common Questions About Our CSA Program

Get answers to the most frequently asked questions about the Minot Multi-Farm CSA program.

When do the CSA boxes begin?

The Minot Multi-farm CSA season will begin in late July and run for six consecutive weeks, wrapping up in September. Our Fall CSA box starts on October 30th and ends on November 20th.

How do I join the CSA?

Signing up is easy! Just click on our virtual sign-up link [here] and follow the instructions to choose your preferred weeks and complete your membership registration. Welcome to our CSA community!

How do I receive my CSA box?

You can pick up your CSA box at The Meat Company every Wednesday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Just come to our designated pickup spot during this time to collect your fresh, locally-grown produce.

What types of vegetables will I receive?

Each week, you’ll receive the freshest vegetables in season. We grow over 20 types of vegetables and strive to provide a wide variety week-to-week, so there’s always something you love and never too much of something you’re tired of.

What if I don't know how to cook a certain vegetable?

Each week, you’ll receive a newsletter with a list of what’s in the box, additional recipes, meal ideas, and cooking inspiration to help you in the kitchen.

Do you offer multiple share sizes?

At this time, no. But if you have another friend or family member that’s also interested in a share, you could arrange to split your box!

What if I am on vacation?

At this time we do NOT hold your box for you credit your account or double up on boxes later. But, you do have two options:

  1. Send a substitute in your place. Find a friend to take your share for you and either store it until you return OR eat it themselves! It’s a great way to expose others to local foods.
  2. Let it flow into our Food Bank. If you reach out in advance to tell us about a planned vacation, we can plan to donate your box to the local food bank. We will drop it off before we head back to the farm.
Is it normal to compost some of the food?

When you come to the end of the first week or two, you may find some veggies in your box that you just never got to or don’t like. They might end up getting tossed into the compost pile. This can seem like a waste of food, and you may feel guilty about it.

We want to encourage you to expect that no matter how great you are at eating veggies, you will almost certainly compost a certain portion of your share this summer. It’s unavoidable.

That being said, if you find that it’s happening a lot, we encourage you to find friends or neighbors to share with! We plan to teach you lots of “exit strategies” this year to help keep this from happening too much.

Is this CSA program suitable for me?

It might not be! Our CSA is a good fit for those who want to eat well and make fresh, nutrient-dense food a regular part of their day. CSA members value being connected to a farm and supporting beginning farmers in their community. If you’re not a big foodie, don’t cook often, or only want a few types of vegetables, then supporting your local farmer’s market might be a better fit.

How can I contact you with a question?

Please send us an email! We’d love to hear from you.
