Standing Rock Community Development Corporation (Fort Yates, ND) was awarded $284,976 to document elder stories, recipes, and audio of the Lakota and Dakota Languages. This documentation will be compiled into a cookbook aimed at language education. The project focuses on integrating cultural language, education, and cultural foods to help improve community health.
Upper Missouri Ministries (Epping, ND) received $300,000 to employ hydroponic technology within the Camp Umm community. This initiative aims to provide fresh food for northwest North Dakota while testing a diversified financial model. The project is an effort to develop and test a social enterprise and emerging agricultural learning opportunity within northwest North Dakota.
